Education

At the forefront of healthcare the Mater Hospital improves services through the integration of clinical care, research and teaching. In working with a large number of education and teaching partners we further support our role as a leader in the delivery of healthcare services. The result is greater health benefits for our patients and society.

Teaching Hospital

The Mater is a teaching hospital for the Australian Catholic University, the University of New South Wales, the University of Notre Dame Australia, the University of Sydney, the University of Tasmania and the University of Technology Sydney, as well as  Meadowbank TAFE.

Our partnerships include undergraduate and postgraduate placements for medical and nursing students and we host academic chairs in surgical oncology and medical oncology. We also work with our teaching partners to provide leadership and formation programs for staff.

Training & Development

Whilst the education of health professionals is a core priority, we are committed to supporting the further training and development of staff in all areas and at all levels.

Committed to excellence in care, teaching and research we engage in the ongoing development of staff and healthcare professionals through training and education.

At the Mater our dedicated Staff Development Department provides all staff with education opportunities and career development paths. We have a dedicated policy for financial assistance and study leave support as well as scholarships for educational opportunities.
